As a catalyst in
making rapid change, hypnosis is my tool of choice. For those
who are seriously seeking growth, I know of no other more direct
path to self awareness than the altered state of consciousness
in which the subconscious and unconscious mind[s] can be accessed.
It is here that a virtual treasure trove of knowledge and emotions
can be found and changed in order to affect life on the conscious
level. In the hypnotic state the client is open to guidance
from very high levels of Self, namely the High Self, Soul/Spirit,
and Full Self. From this expanded perspective, new choices and
solutions are offered. Stretching to experience phenomena beyond
the mind's normal limits helps to stretch the client beyond
his/her conscious belief systems encouraging the possibility
of change and growth.
Because the client
is gaining new perspectives and insights in the altered state,
it is important that they remain alert while being totally relaxed.
Their full participation in the process is essential. I rarely
employ hypnotic suggestions but, instead, guide the client to
a certain level of understanding. From the new perspective they
can then choose a different direction.
The majority of individuals
exist in a perpetual hypnotic trance. That trance constantly
suggests to them that they must be on guard and prepared for
the worst. Such a steady state of fear demands that they keep
their bodies very tight and tense, on alert for their perceived
danger. Because of the natural tendency to be tense, it is important
that the client be deeply relaxed when working with body sensations
and emotions. Every muscle, nerve and bone should be totally
relaxed so that the body sensations can be clearly experienced.
If most of our issues
or problems arose from beliefs residing within our consciousness,
then we would have the ability to easily change our beliefs
and the quality of our lives. Making changes on the unconscious
and subconscious levels creates a dramatic shift in the conscious
reality. By using hypnosis to induce an altered state, we can
become conscious of our subconscious and unconscious minds and
consciously create reality the way we want it to be.
